Concrete Institute of Australia Seminar Series

Ancon is the proud sponsor of the upcoming seminar series by the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA) featuring Prefabricated Modular Concrete.

The CIA has brought together an experienced line-up of design and construction experts from within the prefabricated modular buildings industry. The seminars will demonstrate the benefits of modular construction, the potential pitfalls to watch out for, and the best use of modular, in-situ and hybrid concrete options. The seminars will include theoretical and practical views on the design and construction of prefabricated modular buildings while drawing on a number of case studies from across Australia and overseas.

We hope to see you at the seminars in either Brisbane (30th April), Sydney (1st May), Melbourne (3rd May), Adelaide (8th May), Campbell Town, Tasmania (10th May) or Perth (14th May). For more information and to register to attend the seminars please visit the Concrete Institute of Australia website here.

Please contact Ancon to learn how our lifting anchors and reinforcement connections can help solve the two main challenges in prefabricated concrete: Lifting and connecting concrete items.

Threaded Inserts Design Guide

The Ancon Threaded Inserts Design Guide is now available to download on our website.

Cast-in threaded inserts provide a metric thread fixing point in precast concrete panels and are used for two distinct applications.

Threaded inserts are used in the attachment of permanent structural fixtures as well as in the attachment of temporary braces and strongbacks.

Ancon supplies a range of reliable threaded inserts which are suitable for a wide range of concrete connections. They are available in thread sizes from M12 to M24 and with Unicoil threads UC16 in either zinc plated and hot dip galvanized mild steel and grade 316 stainless steel.

New Tension System

Cross Coupler

The Cross Coupler combines High Performance with Architectural Design

When forming a cross brace, a Cross Coupler offers a streamlined alternative to an anchor disc and minimises the number of fork connectors and locking nuts required.

Cross couplers and anchor discs allow tension bars to lie in the same plane and remove the need to offset bars, with the coupler or disc providing an interesting design feature for the panel.

The Centenary Library, Brisbane

Ancon designed and manufactured the stainless steel support system for the intricate brick façade of the Centenary Library, at the heart of the Anglican Church Grammar School.

This ambitious project, designed by Brand + Slater Architects, is a key part of the school’s master plan to provide a technology-rich, world-class centre for its 1,800 students. Comprising four levels, the library features an extensive range of learning spaces including a 250 seat lecture theatre, teaching and meeting rooms, as well as over 80 individual learning areas.

Ancon MDC and CFA continuous shelf angle support systems carry the intricate brick façade, consisting of large archways and projecting brickwork. As part of Ancon's free design service, plans were produced illustrating the location and reference of all the fixings required.
